Meet the Therapist

It is never too late to be who you might have been.

Counseling is a unique partnership in which we will focus our combined energies and wisdom entirely for your benefit and well-being. I offer myself to you as a therapist because counseling for myself and family has been of tremendous benefit in my own life. As the saying goes, “learn one, do one, teach one.”

I approach therapeutic work from Family Systems and Psychodynamic perspectives. What this means to you is that we will explore the influence of past and present relationships in your life, and bring new insights into your awareness. I believe we are motivated by deeply held beliefs that function below our daily level of consciousness, yet we have the ability to figuratively stand apart from that same consciousness and make choices.  I strive to help you uncover a new way to assemble your previous threads of thinking and come to a new, broader comprehension of yourself and cultivate your strategies for life.

Counseling is dynamic, a seemingly contradictory combination of acceptance and change. I draw on a variety of evidence-based techniques appropriate to your goals and context. We will explore your strengths and build new skills. Many clients find mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, and depth-oriented techniques helpful.

I work with individuals, couples, and children. I have worked in school and agency settings, and am currently in private practice in Kirkland, WA.

I hope to see you soon!
